These are must especially if you have larger sand spikes and a lot of em .
These are the lightest and easiest sand spikes I’ve used in 20+ years of surf fishing.
Rock them back and forth and easily sink them into the sand. A hidden feature I realized is that they stack into each other taking half the space of tube type spikes when traveling. Beautiful / clean welds. Can’t say enough about Brian’s work.
Bought two open face spikes and as a dedicated ‘bait and wait’ type of guy, these spikes are well worth the cost. The quality and build on these spikes are nothing like I’ve ever seen compared to other spikes. The spikes also comes with a cushion on the open face so that you don’t scratch or damage your rod when you place it in the holder. Overall, very satisfied with these!
I have watched these tubular rod holders being used by u-tubers. They take a lot of brutal force when big fish strike. I have seen where large sharks have pulled these down and fishermen have had to chase their rods to the surf. nothing is perfect, but these tubular rod holders are as close as you will get.
Don’t get me wrong. All of Deerfields products are really nice, but man, the sand spike holder is a bit pricey for something that small. But I do love it on my cart,
