This is my favorite sand spike and I have several. The open design allows the rod to be picked quickly on the strike. The beefy aluminum is heavy enough to handle shark hookups without bending but not so heavy that it’s cumbersome to carry around on my surf cart. Another great product from Deerfield.
I have tried soooo many different brands of spikes that turned out to be either too hard to push into the sand, or bent when hammered by a big fish. Totally frustrated and afraid of losing an expensive rod and reel to the surf, I ordered 2 Open Face 2.0 spikes and the sand spike holder for my cart. HALLELUJAH!!! These spikes are the bomb! They are easy to drive into the sand and are absolutely rock solid. I love them so much I just ordered two more. And the sand spike holder allows me to carry them more securely and leaves more room inside my cart for other things. Thank you so much Deerfield Fabrications!

I purchased 3 sand spikes from D&N and used them first on a trip down in Cape Hatteras. Of course they looked excellent being brand new and shined like a diamond. I got a few compliments on my spikes which people rarely do, since it's just a sand spike. But these look good. More importantly, I hooked up into some big Drum on that trip and these spikes held up just fine. They gave some bend which is needed so they don't break. I was very happy with these sand spikes and my decision to buy them from D&N! I shopped around for a few days and ended up buying with them. Good move! Thanks guys!
Was looking to upgrade from PVC. I ended up using it on about a dozen fish so far between my 130w and 30w and it preforms amazing. You can set the spike without a mallet. It gives me peace of mind when fishing knowing my gear is secure. If you are serious about LBSF this is a must.
